‘’Street’’

Seda Yörükgil’s exhibition “Street” offers sharp observations on the emotional climate of our contemporary world.

The works in the exhibition question the existence of figures who cannot find a place within the system—those who belong nowhere, or whose sense of belonging has been stripped away. Yörükgil’s contemporary figurative approach seems to favor being over appearing, waiting over settling, and silence over speaking.

States of loneliness, forced disownership, and not belonging resonate not on the surface of the city, but in its background.

Through her paintings and drawings, Yörükgil captures the ruptures within the everyday—like frozen moments from a photograph—confronting the viewer with a familiar yet unsettling truth:

‘’Sokak’’
Seda Yörükgil’in “Sokak” başlıklı sergisi, yeni dünyanın ruh hâline dair keskin gözlemler içeriyor.

Sergideki çalışmalar; sistemin içinde yer bulamayan, bir yere ait olmayan ya da aitliği elinden alınmış figürlerin varlığını sorguluyor. Yörükgil’in çağdaş figüratif yaklaşımı; görünmekten çok var olmayı, yerleşmekten çok beklemeyi, seslenmekten çok susmayı seçmiş gibi. Yalnızlık, mecburi mülkiyetsizlik ve ait olamama hâli, şehrin yüzeyinden çok arka planında yankılanıyor.
